Filipino folk beliefs focus on a strong connection between an individual, their community, and the natural world, and are popular in many regions of the Philippines. While there is a multiplicity of folk beliefs, a predominant idea within many within the Filipino context is the importance of not accidentally offending beings of nature and the community, as negative conditions and illnesses are understood to be consequences of offending others.
Examples of this include but are not limited to viewing illnesses as a consequence of offending a spiritual being ('diwata'), having charms ('anting-anting') as a form of protection, or the popularity of folk/traditional medicine practitioners ('albularyos').
